How U.S. Citizenship Early Filing works
Lawful Permanent Residents (LPRs) are permitted to file their naturalization paperwork up to 90 days before completing their continuous residence anniversary.
This 90-day window is calculated by subtraction of exactly 90 calendar days from the 5-year (standard) or 3-year (spousal) anniversary of the Resident Since date listed on your permanent resident card.
For example, if your standard 5-year anniversary is June 1, 2025, your earliest filing date is March 3, 2025 (calculated by subtracting exactly 90 days). Note that this is not the same as subtracting three months, and leap years will shift the date back by one additional day.
